Music Interactive
The top albums of 2007 interactive is one of the coolest flash interactives I have had the privilege to create. I set out to create a jukebox that would load albums and present the editor’s writeup along with two track clips. The top has a screen that displays the album information and the bottom is a carousel that rotates through the album trays. I love the way the tray rotation worked out. When it rotates, three trays each get their alpha, position, scale and depth animated using loops and if statements. I scripted this before I knew about the flash tween method so all of the animation is done by hand.
The trays get generated and filled dynamically so adding more albums is as simple as changing a variable. I have an array keep track of album positions so that the album number moves with the number as it’s rotated through the carousel.
Loading an album loads that particular album’s flash file into the top screen where the text writeup and sample tracks get displayed.
Each piece of the jukebox was crafted individually in Photoshop. The satin effect really makes a nice piece of chrome! The wood grain was created with the noise and liquefy filters. It was a lot of fun to craft this in Photoshop. A white curved mostly transparent shape adds some shine to the top and bottom displays to give the appearance of glass.
